Adel Bolbol - Modelling the Changing Surroundings of Everyday Life

My research contribution is in the area of Spatio-Temporal Human Behaviour Modelling. An abstract is as follows:

Human activity is one of the most interesting phenomena that happens everyday and that has proven to be very challenging to model due to its complexity, diversity and size of the data. Modelling this kind of activity on the aggregate scale is very important for applications like measuring time expenditures and quality of life, tourist activity and environmental issues.

One of the most crucial research areas that helps achieving this kind of modelling is monitoring how people use transportation and the exact paths that people take on their journeys in their everyday life. My research aims is to develop a conceptual model of the process of modelling human behaviour by detecting their exact trip routes and their mode of transport on these routes from GPS devices.
